Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI): Events/Meetings
This semester, in response to the global pandemic, the Hesburgh Libraries at the University of Notre Dame are implementing a controlled digital lending system for some of their print reserves materials. Please join Mark Dehmlow, Tara Kenjockety, and Cheri Smith at 1:30pm (Eastern) on March 2, 2021 to learn more about the creative solutions they have taken for course reserves processing, and the software they are using to make materials available online.
At this open chat on Tuesday, September 29 (3:00-4:00pm ET), we'll hear from committee member Justin Kani at IUPUI about his experience in the SPARC Open Education Leadership Program. There will also be time for open discussion about all things related to affordable learning.
This call is meant for anyone working in Indiana libraries interested in making learning materials more affordable, and meets the last Tuesday of each month (except August and December). No registration is required. Just email Amanda Hurford with your interest and she'll send you the meeting invite and login information.
The Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI) Affordable Learning Committee would like to invite you to our second Open Chat. Let’s Chat about Affordable Learning, on Thursday, June 4 @ 3 PM EST, is an opportunity to informally chat about affordable solutions for course materials such as open educational resources (OER) and other zero cost options, and get to know your Indiana colleagues working in this space.
The Affordable Learning Committee's first webinar chat, “Addressing Myths and Barriers to Further OER Adoption,” will name and address common misunderstandings instructors may have about OER. The session will provide attendees with talking points and data that proactively address these myths. The web-based session will also discuss barriers instructors face when attempting to adopt OER and responsive services/ resources librarians can provide. Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss their own experiences throughout the open chat. February 11, 2020 (2-3 PM EST)
