The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) and the Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration & Innovation (PALCI), are collaborating to improve open-source repository architecture for scholarly publications and cultural heritage materials.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has awarded $248,050 to PALNI and PALCI for Hyku for Consortia: Removing Barriers to Adoption. With this award, we will increase the flexibility, accessibility, and usability of Hyku, the open-source multi-tenant repository platform system; and offer an operational toolkit for shared repository services.
This project will extend work completed under our last IMLS grant, which resulted in the establishment of Hyku Commons, a production-level, low-cost, repository service shared by “the PALs.” We have kicked off the next phase by adding new piloters at the VIVA and LOUIS consortia, and beginning user research to define the barriers to adopting Hyku. In years two and three of the project, we’ll address gaps with developers at Notch8 in several sprints designed around user feedback.
